We are delighted to announce the successful completion of the Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) Scheme-3 project at the SAIL-IISCO Steel Plant in Burnpur. This comprehensive turnkey project has set a new benchmark in wastewater management by recycling water from key industrial processes, including the Blast Furnace (BF), Basic Oxygen Furnace (BOF), and Power and Blowing Station (PBS), achieving an impressive 85% recovery rate.
Key Highlights of the ZLD-Scheme-3 Project:
Location: SAIL-IISCO Steel Plant, Burnpur
Flow Rates:
- Blast Furnace (BF): 38.5 m³/hr
- Basic Oxygen Furnace (BOF): 38.5 m³/hr
- Power and Blowing Station (PBS): 33 m³/hr
Water Quality:
- Combined Feed Total Dissolved Solids (TDS): 2249 mg/L
- Permeate TDS: 150 mg/L
- Automation Level-1: Ensures smooth, efficient, safe, and reliable operations
Total Piping: 4000 meters
Through advanced treatment processes, including Ultrafiltration (UF) and Reverse Osmosis (RO), the project has achieved significant water quality improvements. The treated water, with substantially reduced TDS levels, is now repurposed as makeup water for the blast furnace. Additionally, the reject water from the process is utilized for BOF slag quenching, showcasing a practical and sustainable reuse approach.
This milestone underscores our dedication to sustainable industrial practices and innovative engineering solutions. By implementing state-of-the-art technology and maintaining a high standard of operational efficiency, the ZLD-Scheme-3 project not only addresses environmental concerns but also supports the operational needs of the steel plant. We are proud to contribute to a cleaner and more efficient industrial future.
